Fenugreek Trigonella

Trigonella foenum-graecum

A half hardy annual with green clover like foliage and pale pea like flowers in summer and autumn.

Growing Tips: It is an annual and should be grown where it is easy to monitor for seed ripening. It is easy to grow needing little attention.

Position: Full Sun

Height: 60cm Width: 40cm

Lifespan: Annual

Use: This is another of those versatile herbs that have as many uses as the imagination. The seeds have a strong flavour and are widely used in Indian and Middle eastern dishes. They also produce good sprouts. The young leaves are used in salads, sandwiches and as a general green vegetable. Fresh and ground seeds are reported to be excellent in control of cholesterol, assist in managing diabetes and help in milk production for breast feeding mothers.

Harvest: Harvest the seeds when the pods turn yellow before they split.
